Landlords Can Apply For Boiler Upgrade Funding
The highly contentious boiler upgrade funding is now available for grants from the Department of Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy.
BTL landlords operating across England and Wales as well as homeowners are now able to submit an application for boiler upgrade funding of up to £5,000 if installing air or water source heat pumps, biomass boilers and up to £6,000 if installing ground source heat pumps which is available up to 2025.
Successful applicants to the scheme will have grants paid direct by the government to the installer which will be discounted off the total cost.
But hybrid heat systems such as combinations of an air source heat pump and a gas boiler are not eligible under the scheme.
Installers will recommend best types of heating system for properties and will fully explain the different options that are available.
The new heating system must have the following requirements of being able to properly heat the whole property and hot water, replace the existing fuel heating system i.e. gas, electric or oil, and meets the minimum energy efficiency legal standards which owners will be advised on by an installer.
In the latest government’s Spring Statement it was made clear that its MEES standards must be complied with by the private rented sector in England and Wales, which is tied in with the October 2021 launch of the Heat and Buildings Strategy.
