Green Light For Affordable Homes

London’s mass transit service, Transport for London, has won consent for 853 affordable homes at a huge scheme in the west of the capital.

Most of the homes in Acton will be for rent, although some will be sold as shared ownership too.

The scheme stretches from Acton Town tube station towards Chiswick and the homes will be constructed in nine buildings.
The affordable homes will be a combination of homes at a range of affordable rents, such as discounted market rent and London Affordable Rent, plus shared ownership properties.

The proximity of the site to Acton Town, Chiswick Park and South Acton stations means new residents will have easy links to the Piccadilly, District and London Overground lines.

TfL promises renewable energy systems, such as solar panels, plus multiple gardens and new play spaces.

The proposals form part of TfL’s wider housing programme, which will provide more than 10,000 homes across the capital as well as a commitment to deliver 50 per cent affordable housing on average across all sites.

Planning committee approval has now been secured for a further 6,650 homes and TfL is awaiting planning committee decisions on almost 1,250 that have already been submitted.
