Brent selective licensing consultation now open
Selective Licensing Consultation
Written by Tom Simcock
At the beginning of 2015, Brent introduced a selective Licensing Consultation Scheme for all private rental properties in Harlesden, Willesden Green and Wembley Central, and licensing of all HMOs in Brent.
Brent Council is now consulting on plans to expand their selective licensing across the whole borough. The councils argues this is needed due to evidence of “poorly-managed privately rented properties” having a “negative impact” on some neighbourhoods. Including the following issues in the private rented sector:
Anti-social behaviour (ASB)
Nuisance neighbours
Accumulation of rubbish
Poor housing and levels of deprivation
Crime
The consultation runs until the 16th December 2016.
Details of the Brent selective Licensing Consultation conditions can be found here.
The RLA will be putting forward our own response to the Licensing Consultation, where we will argue that we are firmly against the expansion of licensing across the borough.
